Curatorial Practice

The residency functioned both as an exhibition and as a programme of workshops and performances, challenging traditional ideas of what art school is—or could be.

Within the context of the Oscillate residency, artist-led workshops and shared studio time were not positioned as something absent from the university framework, but rather as an extension of it: a supportive tool that expanded the ways in which people could make and engage with art. Everything was free to interact with.

The residency took place from September 4–25, 2025

coordinating  32 artists, designers, workshop facilitators and speakers. Managing the organisation of attendees for workshops, talks and film screenings.

the residency produced strong work;sparked discussion on unconventional art spaces and third spaces. Highlighted the value of free, collaborative workshops.

Residency Structure
1. Studio Residency & Internal Programme
Artists are provided with studio space within the gallery, where they begin developing their work. During this period, they were offered a series of lectures and workshops led by invited artists and designers, alongside art school–inspired critique sessions. Work produced on-site is presented as part of an evolving, ongoing exhibition.

2. Public Engagement & Expanded Programme
Artists continue their studio practice while the programme opens to the public. Existing lectures and workshops are made accessible to wider audiences, alongside newly introduced sessions. Artists in residence also lead their own workshops and talks during this phase. Open-call crit sessions are organised to encourage broader participation and dialogue.

3. Final Exhibition
The residency culminates in an exhibition showcasing the work developed throughout the programme.
